Marble Floor Regrouting Using Marble Gum
We remove the old grout between your marble tiles, fill every joint with color-matched marble gum compound, then grind and polish the whole floor level so the joints all but disappear — leaving one seamless, glossy marble surface.
What It's Best For
- Marble floors, staircases and foyers laid in tiles or slabs with visible grout joints
- Grout that's gone black, uneven, or simply looks dated against the stone
- Typical job: 1–2 days for a room, 3–5 days for larger areas
- Finish typically lasts 3–5 years depending on traffic and care
When You Need Something Else
If it's the marble itself that's damaged — deep etching, cracks, heavy staining — rather than just tired grout lines, full restoration (grinding, honing, crystallization, sealing) is usually the better first step. We'll tell you honestly which one your floor needs.

Inspect & Confirm Eligibility
We check your marble is a good candidate before recommending this service.
Remove Old Grout
Old grout is carefully scraped out without chipping tile edges.
Apply Marble Gum
Quality grout compound, color-matched and sampled against your marble before we commit.
Grind & Level
The whole floor is ground flat so joints and tiles sit at one uniform level.
Polish & Seal
Buffed to a high-gloss finish and sealed for stain resistance.
Why the Gum Compound Itself Matters
We use a quality grout compound — the same grade specialist restorers rely on — rather than the cheaper alternatives some contractors substitute to cut cost.
Cheaper gum is more prone to poor color matching, visible yellowing within a year or two, and a shorter overall lifespan before it needs redoing. We'll show you the material and a color sample against your own marble before any work starts.
Services FAQ
What is marble floor regrouting using marble gum?
It's a technique for eliminating old, discoloured or uneven grout lines between marble floor tiles. We remove the existing grout, fill every joint with a color-matched marble gum compound, then grind and polish the whole floor level so the joints all but disappear — leaving one seamless, glossy marble surface instead of a grid of visible grout lines. See our full regrouting process for the step-by-step breakdown.
Is my marble floor a good candidate for regrouting?
If your marble floor is laid in tiles or slabs with visible grout joints — especially if those joints have gone black, uneven, or are simply an eyesore against the stone — it's usually a good candidate. If your marble has deep etching, cracks or heavy staining rather than just tired grout lines, we'll tell you honestly that full restoration is the better first step. Send us a photo and we'll give you an honest read before you book anything.
How much does marble floor regrouting cost?
See our full pricing page for a real, itemised rate card — we don't hide behind "contact for quote." Final price depends on grout condition, joint width and the area involved, confirmed after a free photo-based or on-site assessment.
Which brand of gum compound do you use?
We use a quality grout compound rather than the cheaper alternatives some contractors substitute to cut cost. Cheaper gum is more prone to poor color-matching, yellowing and a shorter lifespan — we'll show you the material and a color sample against your own marble before we start.
I've read reviews about marble gum regrouting going wrong — color mismatch, air bubbles, slippery floors. Is this real?
Yes, and we'd rather tell you upfront than have you find out from a forum. These are real, documented failure modes when the wrong material or a rushed crew is used: poor color matching, air bubbles from rushed mixing, a slicker surface underfoot when wet, and damage to adjacent surfaces during grinding. We show you a color sample before we start, use a controlled mixing process to avoid bubbles, can finish with an anti-slip additive on request, and protect adjoining surfaces before grinding begins — see our full guide on this.
How long does regrouted marble last before it needs redoing?
Most marble gum finishes hold their shine for 3–5 years under normal household use, depending on foot traffic and how it's cleaned — see our full guide on how long it lasts. We offer a maintenance-only repolish (no re-gumming needed) at a lower price than a full redo once the shine starts to dull — see Pricing.
How long does the job take?
A typical room takes 1–2 days. Larger or whole-floor jobs usually take 3–5 days. We'll give you an exact timeline after the free on-site assessment.
Do you protect my furniture and adjoining rooms during the work?
Yes — this is one of the most common complaints we found about other contractors (see our common regrets guide), so we protect adjoining surfaces and furniture before grinding starts, and we'll tell you upfront if anything is at risk given your specific layout.
Does regrouted marble become slippery?
A high-gloss finish is somewhat more slippery than a matte one when wet, as with any polished stone floor — not unique to this technique (more on this in our regrets guide). We can finish to a lower-gloss, less slippery sheen on request, which is worth discussing upfront if you have young children or elderly family members at home.
How is this different from a full marble restoration?
Full restoration (grinding, honing, crystallization, sealing across the whole surface) is the right call when the marble itself is damaged — deep etching, cracks, heavy staining. Marble floor regrouting specifically targets tired, discoloured or uneven grout joints on marble that's otherwise in reasonable condition. We'll tell you honestly which one your floor actually needs.
Do I need to move my own furniture?
For small items, yes please — for large or heavy furniture, let us know in advance and we can help move it as part of the job.
Is it safe to stay in the unit with kids or pets during the work?
The grinding stage produces dust and noise, so we'd recommend keeping young children and pets out of the work area until each section is finished and cleaned; the space is safe to use again once we've cleared up.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — every marble floor regrouting job comes with a 3-month workmanship warranty covering the joints we filled and the surrounding polish, described on our About page.
Can I see photos of your actual work?
Yes — see our Projects page for real, dated Singapore jobs, all with real before/during/after photos, including a landed property regrouting job that also has on-site video.
How do I get a quote?
Send us a few photos of your marble floor's grout lines over WhatsApp or the contact form and we'll confirm whether regrouting is right for it, plus a firm price, usually within the same day.
